Produce larger tooling in fewer sections: The 1,000 × 610 × 610 mm build volume gives manufacturing teams room for long fixtures, large jigs and full-scale functional parts, reducing the need to divide suitable designs into multiple printed sections.
Create stiff, lightweight production tooling: FDM Nylon 12CF provides a carbon-fibre-reinforced material option for applications such as grippers, fixtures and other tooling where stiffness and tool mass matter.
Reduce routine material handling: Integrated regenerative drying, large-capacity material spools and automatic material changeover support longer builds with less manual spool management.
Match print strategy to the application: Multiple print heads and layer-height options give teams flexibility to balance part detail, build time and material requirements around the intended use.
Connect additive to manufacturing workflows: GrabCAD Print, Insight and MTConnect connectivity support job preparation, process control and integration with wider factory-monitoring environments.
Product Overview
The Stratasys F870 is a large-format industrial FDM 3D printer for production tooling, manufacturing aids and functional parts. Its 1,000 × 610 × 610 mm build volume gives manufacturing teams room for long fixtures, assembly jigs, end-of-arm tooling and full-scale components. A fully heated chamber and integrated material drying support consistent processing across extended builds.
Build larger tools in fewer sections
Where geometry allows, the F870 can produce larger jigs and fixtures in one build, reducing the need to divide and join tooling. The large build envelope suits alignment fixtures, drill guides, ergonomic handling aids, protective components and other factory-floor applications.
For demanding tooling, FDM Nylon 12CF provides a carbon-fibre-reinforced material option with high stiffness at relatively low weight. Material choice, build orientation and load requirements should still be evaluated together for the intended application.
Compatible Materials
Review compatible material options before confirming an application route.
The F870 supports FDM Nylon 12CF, ABS-M30 and ASA, with SR-35 soluble support. Nylon 12CF is particularly relevant to stiff, lightweight tooling, while ABS-M30 and ASA extend the system across a broad range of manufacturing and functional-part applications.
Material selection should be based on the geometry, operating environment and mechanical requirements of the finished part rather than material properties in isolation.
Balance detail and throughput
Three print-head options and multiple layer heights allow teams to match the print strategy to the application. The N14 supports ABS-M30 and ASA, while the hardened N20H is used for FDM Nylon 12CF. The optional N25 provides another production option for ASA applications.
This gives manufacturing teams flexibility to balance part detail, build time and application requirements without moving to a different platform.
Support longer production builds
Four regenerative dryer bays accommodate two model and two support spools, with automatic material changeover. The large-capacity spool format is shared with the F3300, helping reduce routine material handling during extended jobs.
Actual build duration and operator intervention depend on part geometry, material consumption and the selected print strategy.
Connect additive to the factory workflow
GrabCAD Print supports job preparation and build management, while Insight provides deeper process control where required. MTConnect connectivity also allows the F870 to integrate with wider factory-monitoring environments.
Evaluate the F870 with D2M
For manufacturing teams across the GCC, the most useful evaluation starts with a real application: a large fixture, a demanding gripper, a manufacturing aid or a functional component with defined performance requirements.
D2M can help assess part size, material choice, build orientation, support strategy and installation requirements against the intended use case.
