FDM support materials are engineered to complement Stratasys FDM model materials during the printing process. The model material determines whether a soluble or breakaway support is used, ensuring optimal print quality and efficient post-processing without compromising part integrity.

Soluble Support for Hands-Free Removal

Soluble support materials dissolve in a heated water-based solution with a cleaning agent, allowing hands-free removal from complex parts. This enables internal channels, enclosed cavities, lattice structures, and multi-part assemblies that would be difficult or impossible to finish manually.

Breakaway Support for Speed and Simplicity

Breakaway supports are manually removed and require no immersion tank or cleaning system. They are ideal for simpler geometries where support structures are easily accessible, offering faster turnaround and reduced post-processing steps.

Optimized for Production, Tooling, and Prototyping

By pairing the correct support material with the selected model material, users can produce accurate prototypes, functional tooling, and end-use parts while maintaining surface quality, dimensional accuracy, and repeatability across builds.
