Use the build envelope as a first check

The nominal XYZ envelope is 406 x 355 x 406 mm (16 x 14 x 16 in.). Place representative geometry in the intended build orientation with support and finishing allowances. A part whose bounding box fits may still need a different orientation, split construction or more room for its manufacturing route.

For fixtures and production aids, check locating surfaces, clamp loads, inserts, wear and service temperature. For functional parts, define the material requirement and inspection plan. Printer size and a material name do not establish acceptance of the finished part.

Let material requirements guide selection

Public supported examples include ABS-M30 and ASA, FDM Nylon 12CF, ULTEM 9085 and 1010 resins, and Antero 800NA. These routes address different requirements; they are not interchangeable. Check the current material, tip, layer-height and support combination for the selected machine configuration.

Support removal may be soluble or breakaway depending on the material. Build orientation influences part behaviour, so validate the relevant load direction and interfaces. OpenAM parameter access is an optional licensed route, not a reason to assume any material is qualified.

Compare the right FDM alternatives

For smaller general-purpose parts or reinforced-polymer tools, start with an F170/F370 or F190CR/ comparison if its materials and envelope cover the workload. Consider the for long tooling that suits its material set, the for larger or taller parts with appropriate high-performance material options, and the when recurring production and operator intervention drive the decision.
